RAG AI Hands-On Lab
Recently Russell and Eric have working on a few AI projects to build our skills in this area. We would like to share what we’ve learned and help you get started as well. We’ll be focusing on tools related to building RAG (Retrieval-Augmented-Generation) projects, and will discuss things like chunking, embedding, vector databases, and calling LLMs to generate responses.
This is a hands-on lab. Install python and bring your laptop. Walk away with some AI sample code running on your machine.
Improving is providing pizza at 6:00 and the presentation will begin at 6:30.

Speaker Bio
Russell Durham is a senior software consultant for Improving and an officer of the North Dallas Developers user group. He is passionate about all aspects of software development and constantly seeks to expand his knowledge of emerging technologies. When he's not working, Russell enjoys playing video games online with freinds and takes on the role of Game Master for the occasional Dungeons and Dragons session.
Eric Sowell is a Director of Consulting for Improving, officer of this Users Group, developer, and coding instructor. He is the author of an out-of-date book (so don't buy it), Mobile ASP.NET MVC 5. When not coding, he likes to read, study history, Bible, Greek, Latin, think a lot about teaching, and play Civilization 6 and Age of Empires 2. To keep up-to-date with Eric's strange technology, Latin, and Greek adventures, you can follow him on Twitter, subscribe on Youtube, or follow him on his blog.
